Game Design

As a designer, I am happy to flesh out my ideas and quickly bring them into the game space. I am comfortable using basic game editors as well as level making software to design levels. I can also design my own player interfaces and documents.

This screen capture displays a level for the game Portal 2 that I designed around a key concept of thinking outside of the box using boxes. In Portal 2, the common uses for these cubes are to press and hold buttons or to create barriers for items like lasers. I discovered that in certain circumstances, the player can use these blocks as a hovering platform to jump on, allowing for traversal beyond their typical limits. In order to guide the player, I ran playtests with peers to design simpler puzzles that would lead a player to think about the cubes as platforms in addition to their typical uses. If you would like to play the level, it can be found here.
