Music & Audio

My beginning in music came from playing piano at a young age, and learning to play the oboe as I entered middle school. Music is so key to bringing a player into the world, and guiding their emotions through a game experience. I’m excited every time I get to sit down and compose or work on a new piece.

As a student at MSU, I was able to work on group projects to develop educational games for use in a planetarium setting to get high schoolers excited to learn and be in that space. One of those games was The Voyage of the Nizmo, an interactive quiz game in which the students worked together to solve physics problems in order to pilot their spaceship throughout the universe, avoiding hostile ships and the event horizon of a black hole along the way.

“Main Theme” I really wanted to capture the epic space faring adventure that students would go on, leaning on the horn for that bright and triumphant theme.
“Standard Quiz” When students begin their calculations, I wanted to give them an energetic theme to keep them excited as they moved into their learning module. I aimed for a more sci-fi, electric sound to make them feel right inside of the ship.
“Intense Quiz” As the dangers of their flight add up, the quiz theme changes to reflect that urgency. I called on tones similar to that of alarm sirens that may be activating inside the ship. I also wanted the melodic line to convey the feeling of their plans going “topsy-turvy.”
